About the Ontario East Fibre FestivalThe Ontario East Fibre Festival was first envisioned by Fiona Stevenson and officially founded in 2025 by the Ontario East Fibre Community (OEFC), a non-profit community organization based in Rideau Lakes, Ontario. The OEFC is dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and advancing fibre arts and agriculture in Eastern Ontario, with the support of its members, government partners, and the wider community. It is our desire to share the best of our regions fibre arts crafts, agriculture, and culture with the world. Hosted at the historic Lombardy Fairgrounds, the festival reflects the OEFC’s commitment to showcasing Canadian artisans, local farmers, and sustainable practices. With dozens of vendors, visitors are invited to explore hand-dyed yarns, wool, and fibre arts of every kind, all created by skilled Canadian makers. Beyond the marketplace, the festival highlights the strong agricultural roots of the region with fibre-producing animals and crafting demos, connecting visitors to the source of their materials and the traditions that sustain them. By combining the spirit of an agricultural fair with the creativity of a fibre arts festival, the Ontario East Fibre Festival offers a unique platform where artistry, farming, and community come together. Through its work, the OEFC continues to foster local enterprise, support sustainable farming, and celebrate the enduring role of fibre in Canada’s cultural and rural heritage. |
The Ontario East Fibre Community grew from a shared love of wool, yarn, and the textile traditions woven through Eastern Ontario’s history. Established in 2025, OEFC brings together fibre artists, makers, farmers, and small businesses to reconnect our region’s rich wool heritage with a new generation of creativity. We celebrate locally sourced fibre, support the people who raise, grow, and create it, and proudly share the talent of Eastern Ontario with Canada and the world. Through exciting events and community-led initiatives, we’re building a warm, lively fibre arts community—one story, one skein, and one connection at a time.
